Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 22, 2026

AutoCoder.dev ("we", "us") builds a desktop coding agent that runs on your own machine using your own LLM API key ("BYOK"). This policy explains exactly what data we handle and what stays on your computer. We have designed AutoCoder so that your source code and files never leave your machine.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information. When you sign in, we process the email address / access key associated with your account and an authentication token to keep you signed in.
  • Subscription & payment. Paid plans are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details; Stripe handles payment data under its own privacy policy.
  • Prompt-assist data. When you use the optional prompt-refinement ("Sparkles") or web-research features, the text of that prompt or query is sent to our servers and to our processors (DeepSeek for synthesis, for web search) to return a result. These features are explicit actions you initiate.
  • Operational logs. Our servers keep limited request logs (timestamps, account identifier, error diagnostics) to operate and secure the service.

2. What stays on your device

  • Your code and files. The agent reads, writes, and runs commands against your project locally. Your repository contents are not transmitted to us.
  • Your LLM API key. Your BYOK key is stored locally on your device and used to call your chosen LLM provider directly. We do not receive your key.
  • Agent activity. The reasoning loop, tool calls, and command output run on your machine. Only the explicit prompt-assist/research text described above is sent off-device.

3. How we use information

We use the data above to authenticate you, provide and bill for the service, deliver the prompt-assist and research features you request, and to maintain security and reliability. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Third-party processors

We rely on: Stripe (payments), DeepSeek (prompt synthesis), and web search. Each processes data only to provide its function. Your own LLM provider (selected via BYOK) is governed by that provider's terms.

5. Data retention

Account and subscription records are retained while your account is active. Prompt-assist/research inputs are retained only as needed to deliver the feature and for short-term operational caching. Logs are rotated on a limited schedule.

6. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account data by contacting us. To stop all off-device data flow, simply do not use the prompt-assist and research features and sign out.
